Kaely is a senior podcast producer at USA TODAY, where she produces The Excerpt, a national news podcast covering politics, culture, health, science and other issues shaping public life. Her work includes developing episode ideas, booking and preparing guests, writing scripts, editing audio and video and guiding episodes from conception through publication.
Before joining USA TODAY, Kaely produced podcasts for The Arizona Republic and azcentral.com, including Valley 101 and The Gaggle. She also spent six years producing public radio in Phoenix and has worked across print, broadcast and digital media.
An Arizona native, Kaely is especially interested in stories that illuminate overlooked people, places and histories. She earned a bachelor’s degree in classical studies from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree in international journalism, with distinction, from City University London.
Outside the newsroom and classroom, Kaely enjoys gardening, fiber arts and spending time with her cats.
