Cory Cooper Hansen is a Professor Emerita with Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Calgary, in her home town of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She is a proud graduate of ASU’s graduate schools earning a master's degree in elementary education and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction. Prior to entering higher education, Cory taught kindergarten for 10 years in Phoenix, Arizona. She received an award for excellence in teaching at ASU's West campus in 2006 and has been recognized outstanding work in early childhood literacy education. She has presented numerous papers at the state, national, and international levels.
Professor Hansen’s research agenda includes best practices in teaching from early childhood education to methods of improving achievement in college classrooms. Effective integration of technology has been at the heart of her work exploring pedagogy and she has received grant funding to create Arizona classrooms of tomorrow, today. As well, her current work with doctoral students in the Ed.D. program has explored technology enhanced learning and teaching that impacts children, educators, and educational administration.
Practical professional development opportunities round out Professor Hansen’s commitment to quality early childhood education. She has presented literacy workshops at the international, national, state, and local levels. Recently, the position of associate director of teacher preparation has been added to her achievements. In this role, she continues to support, guide, and interact with preservice teachers, faculty members, administration, and represents Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College across a wide range of educational communities.
