Rachel Hayes believes in developing effective tools that have an impact on people’s daily work, both for local and global use in their professional work. She currently is an Assistant Director in the Office of Fiscal and Business Operations at Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. In her role, she serves and works with students, faculty, and staff to guide them through the post-award grant process. Her vast array of experiences have enabled her to become proficient in a unique range of procedures and responsibilities, encompassing financial, research, and human resource management.
Rachel’s past employments have all been centered on assistance to the community and to individuals within it. She served as an Accounts Coordinator in the School of Life Sciences where her interest and passion for grants and research began. Since this experience, her desire to advocate and uphold state, federal, and university policies and procedures has become a never-ending quest and continues to be a goal of hers. In addition, Rachel has served in numerous other professional capacities, including: as an attorney’s office accountant, secretary for the Head Start Program, funeral home and cemetery office manager and assistant to the funeral director, and office manager within a physical therapy department.
Rachel has a great dedication to serve both Arizona State University and the local community. Currently, she is a member of the Commission on the Status of Women. She has served as a mentor in the ‘Staff Mentoring Program’ since the commission first piloted the program in 2013. She is proud to be part of an agenda that provides empowerment, education, and support to staff members.
