As Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Tamara Deuser works in close partnership with the Executive Vice President and Provost, the Provost’s Leadership Team and with colleagues across the institution to develop and implement operational strategies to ensure continued and enhanced success in the Academic Enterprise. Deuser provides operational vision and leadership to realize the organizational strategic plan as well as provide insight and assistance to ensure scalable, effective and efficient operations of critical functions that impact student and faculty success. She will also lead and ensure successful execution of Provost’s office initiatives requiring integration across senior leadership.
Prior to joining the Academic Enterprise, Deuser served as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the ASU Knowledge Enterprise. Her responsibilities included leadership of all aspects of research administration and compliance as well as research facilities, infrastructure and services. She also provided guidance and oversight for the operational functions of the KE institutes and initiatives and the Research Advancement staff that support faculty across campus.
A senior operations executive, Deuser specifically focuses on organizational redesign, process improvement and novel approaches to achieve operational excellence. Deuser has held a variety of leadership positions in the Knowledge Enterprise as well as serving as project manager for major research programs during her tenure at ASU.
Before joining ASU, she held leadership positions in project management and process improvement at several firms, including GE Healthcare and Motorola. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds a Master of Business Administration from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Scripps College, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
