Long Bio
Kathryn Scheckel is an Executive-in-Residence and University Presidential Fellow at Arizona State University, where she works on strategic initiatives linked to innovation and long-term resource value creation. She brings over 15 years of cross-sector experience across life sciences, real estate, education, and public policy, with deep expertise in venture building, strategic partnerships, organizational design, and revenue-oriented growth strategies.
Kathryn spent seven years in New York, first at McKinsey & Company, where she worked in the real estate and organizational design practices, advising organizations globally on strategy, growth, and transformation, and later at Hines, the world’s largest privately held commercial real estate developer and investment manager. At Hines, she served as Managing Director and Head of Global Ventures, leading new venture creation, strategic investments, and platform development. Earlier in her career, she began at ASU working on the Starbucks College Achievement Plan and strategic initiatives within ASU's EdPlus, University Affairs, and Knowledge Enterprise teams.
Kathryn advises ventures at Hines and Crane NXT and serves on the boards of Hines-incubated businesses including CQuel, Fabrik, and Varuna. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Global Leadership and Management at Thunderbird School of Global Management and holds undergraduate degrees in molecular biosciences & biotechnology and piano from ASU as a Flinn Scholar, as well as a Master’s in Public Policy from ASU.
