Éva Szeli received her bachelor's in psychology from Georgetown University and a master's and doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Miami. After working as a staff psychologist at the VA Medical Center in Miami for several years, she earned a J.D. in Law at the University of Miami. She moved overseas to work with non-governmental organizations applying international human rights law to mental disability policies by conducting human rights investigations and advocacy training in post-Soviet Eastern Europe. Upon her return to the United States, Dr Szeli taught distance-learning courses in mental disability law at New York Law School and co-authored the first casebook in international human rights and mental disability law.
Dr Szeli joined the teaching faculty in ASU Department of Psychology in 2007 and has taught -- both in-person and online -- core psychology courses (Intro, Statistics, and Research Methods); general courses in Social, Personality, and Abnormal Psychology; and advanced courses in Psychology & Law, the Psychology of Advertising, Ethics, and Attitudes & Persuasion. Her particular area of interest is in the various intersections of psychology and the law.
