Fida Sleiman is a teaching professor with the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences' School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences. She joined the ASU faculty as a faculty associate in 2006 and received a full-time appointment in 2008. She received her bachelor's degree with high honors in mathematics, with a statistics option, from the University of Texas-Arlington in 1979, followed by an master's degree in industrial engineering in 1984.
Prior to her arrival at ASU, Sleiman taught mathematics coursework as the math department director at the Universal School of Lebanon, where she also was director of the school's middle and high school sections.
At ASU's West Valley campus, Sleiman teaches college algebra, college mathematics, finite mathematics, brief calculus and precalculus. She also conducts an online precalculus course and an online brief calculus course. Sleiman has introduced into her classroom lessons new technology and software programs such as Aleks, MyMathLab, WebAssign and WileyPlus to increase student success and retention.
