Dalya M. Lateef is an applied biology lecturer in the Sciences and Mathematics faculty group in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts. Lateef completed 5 years of postdoctoral research training at the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, where she explored the physiological, molecular and neural mechanisms that control metabolic rate, temperature and blood pressure using murine animal models. Lateef holds a B.S. in biology and a PhD in integrative biosciences with a concentration in neurophysiology, energy metabolism and obesity. Her interest is in STEM education and biomedical training for youth, where part of her passion is formed by several years as a science educator and program director of advanced STEM education in a charter school.
