Mohamed Moustaoui’s research is focused on studying physical processes that govern the behavior of the atmosphere and developing accurate and fast numerical methods, and scalable algorithms for atmospheric, climate and urban applications. Moustaoui and his collaborators are using computer simulations of atmospheric transport and chemistry coupling global and regional mathematical models to study multi-scale atmospheric interactions. His research aims to produce regional scale climate change information for use in impacts, sustainability and adaptation studies, and produce multi-model ensembles of high resolution future regional simulations to explore and provide climate change scenarios over the United States. Moustaoui is also focusing on atmospheric dynamics and its impacts on regulating the circulation and the transport of chemical tracers in stratospheric and urban environments.
