Long Bio
Safiya Sinclair is an associate professor in the Department of English. She is the author of “Cannibal,” a collection of poems that explore her Jamaican childhood and history, race relations in America, womanhood, otherness and exile. For her work, she has received a Whiting Award, the American Academy of Arts and Letters’ Metcalf Award and the Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Poetry, among other honors.
