Kull's research interests include socio-technical challenges and strategic risks in operations and supply chains. With over 30 publications in leading academic journals and over 100 presentations at national and international conferences, Kull has co-authored a book on cultural implications of lean manufacturing and is principal inventor 5 innovative purchasing and supply chain learning simulations, including a mobile app to teach supply chain principles to health workers in Africa. A recent example is a paper Kull co-authored with previous and current doctoral students, Supply chain leakage of greenhouse gas emissions and supplier innovation. Kull's work has been published in premier, academic journals, including the Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Business Logistics, and Decision Sciences. Professor Kull is also the principal inventor of "Coffee Trade: A Contract Negotiation Simulation" available at https://forio.com/store/asu-coffee-trade-simulation/ and "Shipshape" a mobile supply chain learning simulation for developing country healthcare workers (available on the App Store and Play Store.
Kull has served editorial leadership positions at five premier journals and is a current/past member of the Decisions Sciences Institute, Academy of Management, and the Production Operations Management Society. He has been commended for his contributions to academia, most recently being an inaugural winner of the GLOBE Robert J. House Best Research Paper Award.
