Claire McLoone, LMSW, is a practicing social worker and Teaching Assistant Professor at the Arizona State University School of Social Work. Claire has been a social worker in various settings, including inpatient behavioral health and nonprofits. She was a collective member of Shot in the Dark, Maricopa County’s first syringe access program, engaging in street outreach with people who use drugs from a harm reduction framework for several years. She is a train-the-trainer for naloxone and harm reduction methods. Claire's research background includes exploring perceptions of people who have overdosed with first responders and new theoretical perspectives in the field focused on social justice. Her interests include drug policy, the history of social movements in Arizona, mental health, and disparities in health outcomes. Claire is a certified DREAMzone ally in support of undocumented, DACA, and mixed-status family students.
