Carla van de Sande is known for her dedication to effective mathematics instruction and innovative learning support. She is highly regarded for her clear explanations, well-structured resources, and commitment to student success. A key innovation developed by Dr. van de Sande is the "Keep in School Shape" (KiSS) Program, designed to help students maintain and strengthen foundational mathematical skills during academic breaks. This cost-effective initiative repurposes online survey software to deliver daily math problems, resources, and empowering feedback to students during times when school is not in session. The KiSS program helps hundreds of students each academic break and reflects her broader mission of promoting effective learning strategies both inside and outside the classroom. Through her research and teaching, Dr. van de Sande continuously seeks to improve the student experience and make mathematics education more accessible and impactful.
