Javid A. Qaem, Former Ambassador of The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to The People’s Republic of China, joined ASU in 2022 as Professor of Practice at School of Public Affairs. He has more than 14 years of professional experience.
During his career, Mr. Qaem was Senior Advisor on Political Affairs in National Security Council of Afghanistan, Deputy Minister (Policy and Programs) for Counter Narcotics (2016-2018) and Director General for Programs at the Ministry of Agriculture.
Mr. Qaem used to teach at Kabul University and other private universities as visiting lecturer. He also conducts seminars on project management, change management, human resources management and global leadership and politics. He constantly writes on current affairs for international media outlets.
Javid Qaem completed his Bachelor’s degree from Kabul Medical University and completed his Master’s from Arizona State University, USA, in Public Administration using Fulbright Scholarship. He achieved his second Master’s from University of Torino, Italy, in Management of Development. In addition, he is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and has a one-year post-grade diploma in Rural Sustainable Development.
