Montserrat began her career in 2010 when the infamous “show me your papers” bill, SB1070, passed in Arizona. The unfortunate discrimination against her community propelled her into social justice work. Since then, she has led significant campaigns, including Prop 206, which raised wages for 5 million families. Montserrat ran One Arizona from 2017 to 2022, a C3 coalition of twenty-eight organizations focused on voter registration and civic engagement. In 2022, she also led Arizona Wins, a C4 coalition of labor and community organizations seeking to reshape the current political landscape for a more equitable state. Montserrat is currently leading the Congressman Ed Pastor Center for Politics and Public Service at Arizona State University.
