Dr. Janelle Griffo earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Physical Education, a second master’s degree in Elementary Education (K–5), and a PhD in Learning, Literacies, and Technologies. Her doctoral research examined the relationship between physical education and core academic content, with a focus on how movement-based learning can support academic concept development across subject areas. Dr. Griffo has 12 years of experience in physical education, including teaching at the PreK, elementary, and junior high levels. She is also a certified K–5 elementary educator and has experience coaching volleyball and softball. Dr. Griffo's favorite part of being in physical education is seeing students become comfortable moving their bodies and discovering the physical activities that bring them joy. Her professional interests include movement-based learning, and interdisciplinary connections between physical education and classroom instruction. Outside of work, Dr. Griffo enjoys strength training, dancing, biking, cooking, and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
