Jerry Ruiz is a stage director focusing on directing new and contemporary works by Latine, BIPOC and female playwrights. He has directed the world premiere productions of Cebollas by Leonard Madrid, Fade by Tanya Saracho, Mala Hierba by Tanya Saracho and Basilica by Mando Alvarado.
His professional directing credits include productions at Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Primary Stages, Second Stage Theater, The Old Globe, PlayMakers Repertory Company, Alley Theatre, Rattlestick Theater, Repertorio EspaƱol, Mint Theater Company, Stages, Zach Theatre, TheatreWorks Hartford, Chalk Rep and Mixed Blood. His writing appears in the recently published anthologies "Latinx Actor Training," "The Routledge Companion to Latine Theatre and Performance," and "Shakespeare and Latinidad."
From 2018-2024, he served as an assistant professor in the Department of Theatre & Dance at Texas State University. MFA Theatre: UC-San Diego, BA: Harvard University. Member of SDC.
