Professor Jeffrey Self is an assistant professor of Chemical Engineering in the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport, and Energy, and is an affiliated faculty of the Biodesign Institute's Center for Sustainable Macromolecular Materials and Manufacturing.
Prof. Self holds two B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from the University of Texas (2016) and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2021), as well as postdoctoral research experience in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Minnesota (2023). Leveraging his background in polymer science and photochemistry, Self's research focuses on a molecular-design approach to producing microstructured polymers (e.g., hierarchical porosity, gradient pore structures, patterned crystallinity). These materials are promising candidate materials for future sustainable technologies, including separations, purification, insulation, and others.
