Mary Harrah is an Instructor in the School of International Letters and Cultures. Professor Harrah has been teaching Russian language at ASU since 2015.
Professor Harrah has a background in education and second language acquisition. She was a Fulbright Hays scholar in 2014, and was the Instructional Lead for the first STARTALK summer program at ASU. Her previous experience includes teaching in the Scottsdale Unified School District and at Mesa Community College.
She holds a Master's degree and Doctoral degree from Arizona State University. Her BA is from Wellesley College in History and Russian, with High Honors in Russian Language and Literature. She lived in St. Petersburg, Russia, from 1994-1998.
Her research interests include second language pedagogy, music in the context of social and historical change in Russia, and the lives of contemporary Russian musicians.
