Shillana Bowen-Armendarez is an Associate Teaching Professor of English on the Downtown campus of ASU where she teaches composition and literature. She also serves as the Faculty Head for Languages and Cultures, and Interim Faculty Head for Writers' Studio. Bowen-Armendarez serves as the First Year Composition Coordinator for the Polytechnic and Downtown Phoenix campuses.
Aside from teaching, she is involved with programs and opportunities for student success through her involvement with Upward Bound, Bridging Success Early Start programs with Political Science and Social Work students, and ProMod. Bowen-Armendarez is also an affiliate faculty and teaching faculty fellow with the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy.
Aside from teaching composition on the Downtown campus, Bowen-Armendarez has taught Lord of the Rings: A Study in Fan-Fiction; Fairy Tales and their Modern Retellings; Contemporary Literature; World Literature; British Literature.
