Brie Smith listens to communities before responding with design. Recognized for innovative processes as often as final products, Brie is a licensed architect and certified interior designer who places collaboration, diversity and missions at the forefront of every project. Her inclusive practice gives all stakeholders a voice. This, in turn, creates collective goals, dynamic projects, and lasting relationships with her clients.
With over twenty years of experience, Brie has realized dozens of projects in the Valley for public, private, and non-profit clients alike (all on time and on budget). She maintains Brie Smith Design, her own architecture/interiors and consulting practice, and also teaches core-curricular courses in the Interiors and Architecture programs at The Design School at ASU. Brie serves as a faculty advisor for the award-winning Interiors Student Alliance and the National Organization of Minority Architects student chapter.
Brie is actively involved in national conversations on equity and inclusion, participating at and contributing to the AIA Women’s Leadership Summits. Brie helps to promote more diverse voices here in Arizona by serving on the 2020 AIA State Conference Committee and our local AIA Phoenix Metro Women’s Leadership Group Steering Committee. Through all of these efforts, she strive to raise the profile of diverse principals and leaders in the design profession, share and promote the design work of women, explore new paths to leadership, and foster an environment where professionals can learn from each other.
Away from the ‘office,’ Brie is occasionally training for a triathlon or constructing much-needed furniture. She serves on the Board of RUN3rd Alliance, a Mesa-based nonprofit striving to empower youth through after-school running programs.
