Long Bio
Raised by immigrant parents, Mitzvah Estévez navigated a variety of languages and cultural perspectives from an early age. This exposure to distinct worldviews inspired a fascination for rhetoric and how narratives can be shared to improve communities. Visual communication as a rhetorical tool was especially captivating due to its ability to transcend language barriers and uniquely engage its intended audience.
Mitzvah spent most of her career as a graphics and marketing specialist in the non-profit sector, art-directing and designing campaigns and branding initiatives dedicated to the empowerment of communities. She now applies her education and design experience to her role as an Instructor, sharing with students the potency of visual communication and mentoring them as they navigate the field of design. Mitzvah is currently pursuing academic research regarding the ethics of representation in visual communication design.
