Carley Conder

Carley Conder is the Artistic Director of CONDER|dance, founded in Arizona in 2003. She has concentrated her artistic efforts through creating, teaching, producing, and performing in the Phoenix area and nationally. In Arizona, her choreographic work has been presented at the Herberger Theater, Orpheum Theater, Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Mesa Arts Center, Phoenix Art Museum, Artel at the Clarendon Hotel, W Hotel, and Tempe Center for the Arts. She currently serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Dance in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University.

Her current partnerships include ongoing collaborations with the Tempe Center for the Arts on original dance productions and community programming that elevate contemporary dance in Arizona. Conder also produces annual festivals—Breaking Ground and Tiny Dances—which support local and national artists through presentation, education, and exchange.

Conder has been an invited guest artist at University of Texas–Pan American, University of California–Santa Barbara, Gibney (NYC), Brigham Young University, Utah Valley University, and others. Her work has been presented nationally, including at Dixon Place (NYC), WestFest at the Martha Graham Studios (NYC) , and the Wave Rising Series in Brooklyn (NY).

A former member of Keith Johnson/Dancers (2001–2019), Conder was named among Phoenix New Times’ “100 Creatives” and received its Best Creative Collaboration award (2022). She has also been the recipient of numerous arts grants from the City of Tempe, Arizona Commission on the Arts, Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction, Target Arts Grants, and the Consulate General of Israel.

Through her creative, pedagogical, and curatorial work, Conder continues to foster a vibrant and nationally connected dance community rooted in Arizona.
