Cynthia E. Glidden-Tracey is a clinical associate professor who primarily teaches and supervises practicum at the master's and doctoral levels in the ASU Counselor Training Center associated with the counseling and counseling psychology programs within the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts. In addition, she teaches courses in substance use counseling and psychotherapy supervision, reflecting her interests and expertise in addiction, supervision, and training issues.
Glidden-Tracey is an associate editor of the journal Addiction Research and Theory. For most of the past decade, she co-chaired the Education and Training Committee of the Society of Addiction Psychology (Division 50 of the American Psychological Association). She has published a book and has two online continuing education courses on counseling and therapy with clients who abuse alcohol or other drugs. She has worked on research teams that have led to presentations and publications on supervision and therapy using data collected through the ASU Counselor Training Center, in part under her coordination.
Prior to coming to ASU, Glidden-Tracey had faculty appointments at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and at Illinois State University. She has practiced psychotherapy as a Postdoctoral Resident at Illinois State, as a Psychology Intern at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, as a staff therapist at the Prairie Center for Substance Abuse in Urbana IL, and in private practice in Chandler, AZ. She also conducted pro bono therapy at the University Counseling Center at SIUC.
