Angeline is a dance ethnographer who examines the relationship between bodily movement, race, gender, space, and place. Her dissertation examines how ethnic Chinese people generate choreographies as acts of agency in contemporary Italy. In addition to her dance scholarship, Angeline maintains a creative practice as a choreographer.
Interests: Critical dance studies: critical ethnography, the body, kinesthesia; cultural geography; New Italian Studies.
Angeline's dance works, teaching, scholarship, and research activities have received funding and support from the ASU Center for the Study of Race and Democracy, ASU Gammage Artistic Scholarship fund (2014-2015, 2015-2016), the Herberger Foundation, the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, the Taiwan Ministry of Education, and the U.S.-Italy Fulbright Commission.
Angeline is the founder/artistic director of the Pan Asian Dance Performance Coalition (PADPC) at Arizona State University. PADPC is a student organization that promotes wellness and social justice initiatives of diversity and inclusion via dance performance and community engagement opportunities.
