Professor Dornelles is a statistician whose work has focused on the examination of the social determinants of health. Originally from Brazil, she received her master’s degree in labor economics from the Catholic University of Brasilia and earned her doctoral degree in biostatistics from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, LA. Her current research interests have focused on the relationship between the aspects of the local food environment and health behaviors and outcomes. Professor Dornelles research areas of interest lie in applied regression analysis, forecasting, spatial analyses and its applications to business and health economics. Previously, she has worked as a statistical consultant performing statistical analyses for researchers and M.Ds. in the fields of behavioral sciences, education, and medical research. Her research has been published in many scientific journals, such as PLoS ONE, Journal of Hypertensive and Journal of Ultrasound Medicine, among many others.
