Long Bio

Jessica Barnett is a developer, designer, and maker from Mesa, Arizona. She completed her undergraduate degree in Graphic Information Technology at Arizona State University Polytechnic with a focus in web design and development and software engineering in May of 2019. She then graduated in December 2019 with a Masters of Science in Technology with the same focus.

Before returning to college, Jessica led design teams remotely, organizing content and talent, and promoting products through blogs and social media. She has experience in teaching various creative arts and in tutoring students in technical subjects. Her passions include making the complicated accessible to everyone.

Jessica uses her knowledge of code and user-friendly design to bridge the gap between engineering and design and to create usable, functional, and robust web applications.

Director: The Device and Usability Learning Lab

The Device and Usability Learning Lab is located on the ASU Polytechnic Campus in Santa Catalina room 157. The DULL is a place where students can test their websites (hosted on the web) on multiple devices, operating systems, and screen widths. It is also a space for students to meet, collaborate on projects, attend workshops related to web development and usability, and find tutoring in topics related to the Graphic Information Technology major.

The lab does not hire researchers. If you are interested in working for the DULL, please watch for a lab assistant position to be posted through ASU's student job site and apply there. I do not hire students outside of that site/process. Student workers in The DULL tutor other students in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as in Adobe Creative Cloud software, design, usability, and accessibility on the web.
