Professional Biography
Diane Nuñez is a Clinical Professor and Program Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Arizona State University, Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation. She is a certified adult nurse practitioner, and Director of the Arizona AHEC Rural Health Professions Program, and AHEC Scholars program. A seasoned grant writer, she has obtained research, practice, and scholarship funding to benefit older adult health programs, interdisciplinary education, and advanced practice nurse training in rural and medically underserved areas.
Diane’s publications have included peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. She has presented nationally and internationally on health promotion, community engagement, and interprofessional practice. Career works include partnerships with Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Institute for Interprofessional Prevention Education (ODPHP-IPE); Administration on Aging, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Program Awards; Arizona Department of Health Services; and Area Agency on Aging.
Dr. Nuñez twice received the Daisy Foundation Faculty of the Year award, the Paul Ambrose Scholar Leadership Institute Award presented by the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) and was nominated for the Centennial Professorship Award. She was a Hartford Foundation scholar and is recognized for outstanding achievement in community service-learning from the Administration on Aging - Health Promotion/Disease Prevention Program Award; Governor’s Conference on Women and Business for Outstanding Leadership; and Arizona Governors Award In Pursuit of Excellence. Her students have won first place awards from the USDHHS, Innovation in Health Promotion.
Diane has over 30 years experience in nursing practice and higher education. Dedicated to advancing nursing though teaching and learning, she leads by sharing that passion through building teams that work.
