Bliss Little is a faculty associate in the School of Music and faculty honors advisor in Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University. She holds a doctorate in musicology from the University of Maryland and a master's in musicology from the University of Kansas. Her research interests focus on the music of modern Greece, nationalism, identity, diaspora, gender, world music, 20th-century music, and the Balkan and Mediterranean regions, and she has carried out field research in Greece and Washington, D.C.
Professor Little has presented scholarly papers at conferences of the Society for Ethnomusicology, American Musicological Society, Royal Music Association, International Council of Traditional Music, International Congress honoring the composer Manolis Kalomiris, and Rocky Mountain Chapter of AMS. She is a recipient of a Fulbright Dissertation Fellowship for research in Athens, Greece, as well as the Irving Lowens Award for outstanding paper. Little teaches music history and ethnomusicology courses at ASU, including an online world music course that she designed for non-music majors. She taught previously at the University of Maryland and George Mason University, and has been a member of the ASU Gamelan Ensemble since its formation in 2003.
