Kristin Gasser is a Web User Experience Designer with over 25 years of experience in web content creation and design, including 15 years at Arizona State University. In 1999, she started working at ASU in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department, then later joined the E-Learning Group, both in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (now the Fulton Schools). In these positions she designed and created webpages, generated web graphics, and provided technical support to faculty and staff. In 2002 Gasser moved to the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, where she was part of the web team that managed the top-level ASU websites, including asu.edu. In this role she designed and redesigned many ASU websites, and served as a Provost’s Office liaison for high-profile ASU web projects including the redesign of library.asu.edu.
After some time away from ASU doing freelance work and starting family, she returned to the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering as a Web Application Developer in 2014. Gasser has since been a steady presence in the Fulton Schools for almost a decade, during which her web responsibilities have evolved to include content strategy, accessibility, user interface and experience design, SEO, and analytics. In addition to her work at ASU, Gasser leads a monthly WordPress user group and is an active member of Digital Collegium (formerly HighEdWeb), a national organization for higher education digital professionals.
Gasser holds a BS in Biology from the University of Wyoming and a M.Ed. in Education for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing from Lewis & Clark College. Starting as a Teacher of the Deaf in the Pacific Northwest in a technology-laden classroom, her career has evolved into one in which she provides technical support and website development.
Gasser has also worked for the National Audubon Society as a nature preschool teacher; volunteered as a docent at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix; and spent six months volunteering at the Charles Darwin Research Center in the Galapagos Islands as a technology assistant and field research assistant.
