Lidia Haberman was a John Hay Whitney Fellow at Yale University where she received her master's degree. She holds a bachelor's degree in Latin from Bryn Mawr College. She has taught Latin and classics at Lafayette College, the University of Montana, and has developed classes at ASU in intermediate and advanced Latin. Professor Haberman has taught upper-level Latin and literature courses at ASU for 50 years, and also the occasional culture course. She is also the alumni liaison for Classics, and keeps in touch with graduate students from our program. She created the undergraduate Classics Club, Solis Diaboli, which flourishes even today. Her main interests lie in the elegaic poets, the comedies of Plautus, and the literature of the Republic and the Augustan period.
