Dr. Hansen teaches courses across the core areas of psychological science, including statistics, research methods, the biological bases of behavior, and cognitive psychology. Her teaching portfolio includes Statistics (230), Research Methods (290), Physiological Psychology (325), Memory & Cognition (324), Memory in the Real World (394), and Cognitive Psychology (434). She recently created a course called "The Psychology of Severance" based on the hit TV show. Her scholarly interests include the accuracy and reliability of eyewitness identification.
In addition to her teaching and research, Dr. Hansen serves as the Director for Online Initiatives in her department at Arizona State University. In this role, she focuses on designing and sustaining high-quality online learning experiences for students. She teaches many of her own classes online, and has played a key role in developing, managing, expanding, and strengthening existing online offerings. Dr. Hansen is also actively involved in collaborative initiatives focused on Generative AI in education, with an emphasis on effective, ethical, and pedagogically grounded use.

Dr. Hansen's research interests include mental control, working memory, and individual differences in these processes. She provides expert testimony on the reliability and accuracy of eyewitness identification.
