Amanda Kehrberg is a fourth-year doctoral student at ASU's Cronkite School studying digital culture, entertainment media, science communication, and technology. She is passionate about how algorithmic personalization and entertainment logic shape our access to information online.
Amanda currently works as a graduate research assistant at ASU's Global Futures Laboratory. Before that, she worked at Cronkite as a graduate research assistant and instructor for courses including Sports and Media, Public Relations Writing and Public Relations Research. She also created and taught the writing bootcamp course for the first cohort of Cronkite's master's in strategic communication. Amanda has worked in higher education for more than 10 years, teaching classes on film, digital media, and strategic communication. Her academic publications include journal articles and book chapters.
Amanda is also part of the multidisciplinary ASU team that launched YouTube-first series Space For Humans, which explores positive space futures and how space technologies impact us all. The show premiered on YouTube on "One Giant Leap Day" Feb. 29, 2024.
Amanda is a regular volunteer for ALS Arizona, the state's leading non-profit dedicated to supporting patients and their families impacted by ALS, where she supports their incredible work with social media management, graphic design and copywriting. She was proud to be a caregiver for her dad for several years before losing him to ALS in 2020, and she is passionate about the drive to #EndALS.
Locally in Phoenix, you can hear Amanda on KJZZ's The Show talking the latest trends in pop and digital culture, or find her on stage in Bar Flies storytelling shows. As a freelance writer, she has covered both entertainment and food (but really, ask her about her McSweeney's publication).
