Long Bio
Stevie Winingear is an Evolutionary Anthropology PhD candidate in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change. Winingear researches under Anne Stone, PhD in the Laboratory of Molecular Anthropology. Her primary research interests include human genetics, ancient DNA, and pathogen evolution. She currently serves as a research assistant in the Laboratory of Molecular Anthropology.
Winingear works on a number of projects relating to population genetics, phylogenetics and evolution. Current projects include investigations of the bacteria Treponema pallidum, Bermuda land snails (Poecilozonites bermudensis), and the domestic turkey (Meleagris gallopavo).
Previously, Winingear has worked as a teaching assistant for courses in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change such as: Bones, Stones, and Human Evolution (ASM104), Disease and Human Evolution (ASM345), Human Sexuality (ASB210), Society and Drugs (ASB357), and Food and Culture (ASB300).
