Quinlyn Shaughnessy is an online academic success advisor at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. As an ASU Online graduate, she is passionate about student success and evolving the online student experience to better reflect the unique needs of that specific population.
During her undergraduate studies, she worked for Cronkite's News/Co Lab and assisted with the development of a massive open online course (MOOC) for teaching media literacy to all ages. She believes that media literacy is both a fundamental right and privilege that everyone must take a personal responsibility to uphold.
Quinlyn graduated with her MA in Narrative Studies in 2024 after completing an editorial internship at ASU's Superstition Review magazine and conducting a research study on how post-pandemic "WFH" practices improve the lives of those with chronic illness. Her capstone project was a podcast titled The Allergy Connection, where she interviewed individuals with life-threatening food allergies and shared their stories. She is currently continuing this project with a broadened focus on invisible disabilities and disordered eating.
Apart from her work, Quinlyn enjoys media of all kinds and can be found analyzing '90s TV shows, working on creative writing projects, and reading historical fiction.
