Mary earned her doctorate in 1997 from the University of California, Berkeley in language, literacy and culture with an emphasis on curriculum, instruction, design thinking, assessment, and educational technology. She received her BA from Boston College in 1987. Dr. Riordan-Karlsson is an author, ethnographer, curriculum developer, television show creator and host, professional educator and a former director of education for Pearson Digital Learning. She began her career teaching kindergarten through eighth grade in New York City, San Francisco Bay Area and Silicone Valley and has taught at the university level at the University of California, Berkeley.
