Kristina Vorwald

Kristina attended a local community college back in her home state of Iowa. She completed her associate degree here before taking a gap year. In this gap year, she started her family, which then lead to her discovery of Arizona State University. Here, she completed her bachelor's degree in 2019. She then applied and was accepted into ASU's MA in English program, which she completed in May 2022. Working as a Writing Mentor through the Writers' Studio gave her the knowledge, experience, and contacts to then apply for a part-time instructor position. She currently teaches ENG101 but has prior experience with ENG102 as well.

Kristina's interests include online writing workshops as well as student writing goals. Mentoring students is a major part of her philosophy. Bridging the gap in online learning is her goal, and she utilizes resources such as forms, live videos, and personalized feedback to achieve this goal. As a non-traditional and first-generation student herself, Kristina understands the challenges of work, school, and family, and works with her students to help them best achieve success in her course.
