Victor Ruiz-Aviles is a Ph.D. student in Environmental Social Science. His broad research interests include resilience, disaster recovery, environmental justice, transformative adaptations, community drinking water systems and community development. Before start graduate studies, Victor as a social science undergraduate student worked on different projects in the areas of water issues, renewable energy and community development. One of these projects was the "Identification of Renewable Energy Sources for Sustainable Community Aqueducts" (Original Title in Spanish: Identificación de Recursos Energéticos Renovables para Acueductos Comunitarios Sostenibles). He obtained his BA in Social Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico (UPR), Mayaguez Campus. Victor form part of a group of students that came to ASU as a climate migrant as part of a partnership program between ASU and the National Instituted of Energy and Sustainable Island from the UPR as a consequence of the Hurricane Maria impact in Puerto Rico in 2017.
