Mara Lopez earned her BA in Psychology from San Diego State University and her MA in Organizational Leadership from Point Loma Nazarene University. She is a recent graduate of the Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation program in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Her research focus includes work related to diversity and representation in career exploration as well as issues related to equity in STEM, eqity in education, social justice in education and culturally responsive pedagogical practices. She has focused on curriculum revision for more equitable classroom environments and on increasing career decision-making self-efficacy in students of color for the last few years while at ASU. She has been working in academia in the realm of research, administration, and student advocacy for a little over 13 years now. In her current role, she serves as the Research Program Manager for the Center for Broadening Participation in STEM, focused on increasing the intentionality with which we serve Latinx students in STEM and increasing representation in the STEM field. Additionally, she facilitates professional development initiatives related to Culturally Responsive Pedagogical Practices.
