Workshops for professional development
"Let’s Talk: Using the Humanities to Promote Civil Discourse in the Classroom”. 6-week online course that provides disciplinary approaches to promoting civil discourse in the pre-collegiate course. National Humanities Institute. Duration: January 23rd – March 3rd 2023.
“Podcasting the Humanities: Creating Digital Stories for the Public”. Five-day training that prepares graduate students to translate research into podcast episodes. National Humanities Institute and San Diego State University. Duration: January 10th-14th 2022 .
Attendee support at the “SILC Language Fair”. Answer questions and discuss class offerings and different programs at SILC, 2023.
Co-led an integrated effort to bring visibility to cultural traditions associated with Día de Muertos. Via direct student participation (involving 32 lower and upper division Spanish courses), we built 12 altars and a marigold installation, held a Calaveritas Literarias Contest, and a Papel Picado Workshop, 2022.
Vista Higher Learning (VHL) Faculty Specialist. Provided campus product training, detailed coverage of the content and pedagogical purpose of the textbook program, coverage, and articulation of how the Supersite can be used, assistance for instructors in the Supersite set-up process, and detailed coverage of the content and functionalities of both the instructor and student Supersites, 2022-2023.
While in Sigma Delta Pi, we created an altar celebrating Día de Muertos dedicated to the Mexican painter Nahui Ollin at the art gallery Xico Inc. in Phoenix, which serves Latino and Indigenous artists, 2022.
