I am an Assistant Teaching Professor in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. I teach courses such as Research Methods, and Statistics, and run the SaCRel Lab, online.
My current research focus is women's psychology as potential or actual mothers, and average, psychological sex differences in mateships. Of particular interest to me, is our ability to creatively label or act on evolved desires in order to serve our evolutionary interests, even or especially where these are not consciously known to us, and to influence others.
SaCRel Lab-- signaling and close relationships lab-- is a new, human psychology, online laboratory. We conduct primarily research concerning (targeted) communication of close relationship status, and of changes thereto. Dr. MacEacheron uses primarily an evolutionary psychological approach, though students in the lab can use another. Dr. MacEacheron can also supervise research in psychology and the law. ASU students with a psychology major, particularly those studying online, are welcome to contact Dr. MacEacheron regarding possible Honors Thesis supervision (if enrolled in Barrett College) and/or paid or volunteer Research Assistantship opportunities.
Research methods include experimentation, quasi-experimentation, economic game-play, and surveying, as well as in-person, on-line, and large-scale archival research. I have also conducted comparative legal analysis to add context to psychological publications.
