Beth Murphy-Snodgrass

Born and raised in Indiana, Beth grew up loving comic books and science fiction novels. Representations of illustrated, imagined futures and drawing her favorite superheroes sparked her creativity at a young age and led to Beth’s passion for art, design, and how imagery communicates as an adult. Following this passion, Beth went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication with a Minor in Architecture from Ball State University.

After completing undergraduate school Beth moved to the Phoenix Metro. Since making Arizona her home, She has done public relations graphic design for international PR firms and spent over five years creating experiential graphic design at an experiential design/build firm. During Beth’s career, she has specialized in developing wayfinding systems for complex, multi-use buildings and infographic design.

Beth’s love of developing wayfinding systems and complex problem-solving inspired her to go back to school for her Masters of Science in Design (MSD) at Arizona State University where her thesis is about developing wayfinding solutions for those with low-to-no vision. Beth currently teaches as part of The Design School’s online Graphic Design program and focuses on teaching graphic design principles, software, and typography.

When not teaching, researching, writing, and designing, Beth can be found in her food and flower garden pulling weeds and playing with her 3 dogs. She is also an avid outdoor adventurer- hiking, camping, bike riding, and her most favorite outdoor rock climbing.
