Caitlin Alfonso

Caitlin Alfonso is an Academic Associate in the School of Social Work within the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University. Alfonso received her Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice at Northern Arizona University. She completed her Master of Social Work at Florida International University.

Alfonso has years of experience working with children and teens. Alfonso did home-visiting for birth to five, and served as a child therapist often working with child who had severe traumatic experiences. However, her passion and main area of expertise lies with adolescents. Alfonso has substantial experience in program development for teens. Alfonso started off in programming and worked on her first life-skills curriculum while at a youth detention center. She then developed and coordinated a county-wide program for youth in high-violence neighborhoods through Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation Department in Florida. Since returning to Arizona, she works full-time as a high school social worker and has spearheaded a vaping diversion program and on-site mindfulness center at her school.

Alfonso also owns her own consulting business, where she works with non-profits across the country with various professional development trainings and curriculum/program development.
