Ben Schoenekase, PhD is a native-Texan, Chicago/Phoenix-transplant, and, now, a crash-landed-Minnesotan. With degrees in Environmental Design/Architecture (BED, Texas A&M), Art & Technology and Fashion (MFA, School of the Art Institute of Chicago), and Design, Environment and the Arts (PhD, Arizona State), his practice is both maker-focused and philosophically encased through a multitude of design disciplines. Schoenekase is an Instructor of Architecture at Arizona State University, where he has taught in-person and online through various second/third/fourth/sixth year studios. He is also a Lecturer in the Department of Graphic Design, Apparel Design, Retail Merchandising, and Product Design at the University of Minnesota and Adjunct of Art Foundations at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Aside from work within the University, Schoenekase is working as a collaborator/designer/owner of Dogteeth Studio and {FiBS} where projects have been focused on using architectural technologies and philosophies to generate nonhuman/robot wearables and environments. Finally and most importantly, he is a member of the American Outlaws (USMNT), a one-third-owner of a brewery in Wylie, TX (Glen Echo Brewing), and an amateur chef with his partner Luz.
