Long Bio
I am Research Professional in the School of Transborder Studies, a
unit of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. My responsibilities
include tasks related to institutional capacity building; resource
development; conducting and reporting research; and mentoring. My academic background is rooted in the liberal arts, where I began
preparations for a career in teaching. Over the years, I have
alternated foci between educational topics, such as curriculum,
instruction, educational leadership, and educational administration,
and the liberal arts. My studies in comparative literature served as a
capstone to the multiple disciplinary foci that I had developed in
languages and literature, cultural studies, and the social sciences. I am an experienced educator at the elementary, middle, and high
school levels. I also have taught undergraduate and graduate-level
courses on research methods in education, curriculum design and
development, history and philosophy of education, educational
assessment, and educational technology. I am also an experienced
school administrator and internationally recognized author, editor,
and researcher. Previously, I was a public school teacher of Spanish,
German, and English language arts and a college professor in teacher
education in New York State. I also administered a distance learning
program; I worked with other administrators in a network of high
schools across Long Island in sharing low enrollment courses that
probably would not have been offered, if only one district’s
students were to take the course.
