Chris Johnson is an award-winning collaborative leader with expertise in international strategic visioning and execution to achieve global ambitions for education institutions.
As Director of Graduate and Recruitment and International Partners at Arizona State, he uses his expertise to advance ASU’s global enrollment goals while facilitating deeper engagement with recruitment partners. As a long-time international educator, he utilizes his expertise to assess programs to identify service enhancements, forge partnerships with faculty and internal stakeholders and leverage strategic relationships. Johnson began working in International Education in 1999, and has worked in study abroad, international student services and international admissions. He has been a member of NAFSA Trainer Corps and held regional leadership roles within the organization. Among his professional positions he has been a dean, assistant dean and director at private, regional, and urban public institutions. In addition to degrees in economics and public administration he did doctoral studies in African politics, conducting field work in Tanzania and is currently working on an EdD at ASU. Along the way, he has lived in Kuwait, Burkina Faso, Indonesia, Kenya, Egypt, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, and Tanzania and has traveled to a further 78 countries.
