Sydni is a Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology working with Dr. Abigail Gewirtz in the After Deployment, Adaptive Parenting Tools (ADAPT) Lab. Broadly, Sydni's research interests relate to the dissemination, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based interventions for at-risk or highly stressed populations. She is primarily interested in understanding how clinicians, therapists, and facilitators (or other mental health practitioners) influence engagement with these evidence-based interventions.
Sydni completed her undergraduate degree at Kansas State University in 2019. She majored in Psychological Sciences, with a concentration in Clinical Psychology and a minor in Conflict Analysis and Trauma Studies. While an undergraduate, Sydni worked as a research assistant at the Institute for the Health and Security of Military Families, where she worked on a project discussing the intersection of traumatic events, PTSD, and family systems. She also worked within the Department of Psychology in the Adaptive Reasoning & Decisions Lab, where she studied interpersonal relationships from an evolutionarily-oriented cognitive approach. After graduation, Sydni worked as a Mental Health Case Manager for a non-profit in Minneapolis, MN as part of the Social Security Administration's national, multi-site, Supported Employment Demonstration study. In her free time, Sydni enjoys reading, embroidery, and camping and hiking with her husband and black lab.
