Ira A Fulton Engineering
Long Bio
Growing up in India, she was inspired by the architects in her family, who showed her that she could have a fulfilling career while leveraging her creative talents and strengths in math and science.
After high school, Lamiya continued to pursue her ambition. She moved to Houston, Texas to attend the University of Houston earning a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental design and architecture.
She also completed internships at Square9Designs in India and with Jory Alexander in Houston. She also worked part-time as a DEI Council Liaison at the Center for Student Involvement on campus.
Lamiya attributes her careful, considerate design approach to her experiences living outside of her home country including participating in a high school student exchange program in France.
“I have a high level of empathy and want to create spaces that promote everyone’s well-being,” she said.
Lamiya is a member of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) and is an associate member of AIA.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends, playing tennis, watercolor painting, and practicing yoga and meditation.
