I am a professor of psychology in the School of Interdisciplinary Forensics and a core faculty member in ASU's Law and Behavioral Sciences program. I earned my MS and PhD in social psychology from Rutgers University and am an emeritus professor at Iowa State University, where I spent 23 years as a faculty member in the psychology department. My research examines factors that shape people’s judgments and behaviors within legal settings. My research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Justice, Heterodox Academy, the American Psychological Foundation, and the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues. I’m honored to be the recipient of research, teaching, and service awards and to be a fellow of the American Psychology-Law Society, Society of Experimental Social Psychology, Association for Psychological Science, Society for Personality and Social Psychology, and American Psychological Association. The highlight of my career has been the mentoring relationships I have formed with my graduate, post-doctoral, and undergraduate students whose successes have included obtaining research grants (e.g., National Institute of Justice), attaining professional stature (e.g., Associate Editor of LHB), and securing tenure-track and tenured positions (i.e., University of Nevada, Reno; Williams College; Central Michigan University; Kennesaw State University; Des Moines University; Brown University; California State University, Fresno; Wartburg College; University of South Hampton, UK).
