Amber Brooks-Gumbert is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the College of Health Solutions VR Simulation Lab, in coordination with Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation. In addition, she is the Program Director for the MS Health Care Administration and Policy (formerly MS Science of Health Care Delivery) and Master of International Health Management programs in the College of Health Solutions. Prior to joining ASU, she worked in clinical practice and education. As a Physician Assistant she has practiced in specialties including outpatient and hospital internal medicine, advanced wound care, and plastic & reconstructive surgery at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
In higher education, Ms. Brooks-Gumbert was previously an Assistant Clinical Professor at Northern Arizona University and taught in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, located at the Phoenix Biomedical Campus.
While working clinically for the Division of Hospital Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic, she was the Program Director for the Mayo Clinic Arizona Postgraduate PA Fellowship in Hospital Internal Medicine as well as the Assistant Program Director at the time of the program's inception. During this time she also served on the Mayo Clinic Interprofessional Education Task Force and the Mayo Clinic School of Health Science Subcommittee. She has worked on multiple quality improvement projects within Mayo which have led to changes in clinical practice and improved patient outcomes.
Ms. Brooks-Gumbert completed her undergraduate studies in Health Science (now Public Health) from University of Nevada, Reno and her graduate-level Physician Assistant training from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona.
